Three things the pre-listing number is not telling you.
01
The grey market is a sentiment meter, not a valuation. It prices how many people want the allotment this week. It has never once read the order book, the margins, or the promoter.
02
Oversubscription is a crowd, and a crowd sizes the pop, not the company. Fifty times subscribed tells you the listing-day trade is crowded. It says nothing about where the stock trades after the crowd leaves.
03
Applying for the pop and owning the business are two different trades. The mistake is using the first one's signal to make the second one's decision, then being surprised in December.
The grey market got 2025 mostly right. Most listings popped. By year end most were underwater. Both can be true. The signal was never lying to you. You were reading it for the wrong horizon.
