Cousin texts me a screenshot Saturday morning. His fund declared a dividend, Rs 12000 landed in his account, and he is thrilled. Calls it free money the fund threw off. Here is the part nobody tells you. The fund did not find that money. It took it out of his own units and gave it back to him, then the taxman took a cut on the way past.
