Rule 01
Check the market cap, not the price
If a company is worth Rs 50000 crore before the split and Rs 50000 crore after, nothing happened. The only number that matters is the total value, not the per-share label.
Rule 02
Compare P/E, not price
A stock at Rs 100 with P/E of 80 is more expensive than a stock at Rs 2000 with P/E of 15. Price tells you nothing about value. The ratio tells you something.
Rule 03
Ignore the screenshot
When someone says a stock "just got cheaper" after a split, ask: cheaper than what? If they cannot answer without mentioning the old price, they have answered a different question.
