01How it works
In plain words.
At each rebalance the strategy sells some holdings and buys others. The value of those trades is the traded value. The fee is 0.2% of it, charged when the trades execute; there is no fee on the rest of the portfolio and none between rebalances.
The formula
Fee per rebalance = 0.2% x portfolio value x share tradedYearly rate = 0.2% x share traded x rebalances a year02Worked example

03Key concepts
What to know before you use it.
Traded value, not portfolio value
Only the part that changes hands is charged. A rebalance that changes two stocks out of twenty trades a small share.
Cadence is a design choice
Faster rebalancing follows a signal more closely and trades more. Module 4.3 covers the trade off between cadence, cost and drift.
Good to know
- Each strategy page states its rebalance cadence.
- Taxes and exchange charges on the trades apply as on any trade; see the trade cost calculator.
04Assumptions
What the calculator assumes.
- The same share traded at every rebalance.
- The fee is taken from the portfolio, which grows at the chosen return.
