Questions about momentum investing
What is momentum investing?
Holding the stocks with the strongest recent price trend, usually measured over 6 to 12 months, and replacing them on a fixed calendar when others overtake them. The rule is written in advance, so the same inputs give the same list.
Which NSE indices follow a momentum rule?
The Nifty200 Momentum 30 and the Nifty Alpha 50 are two published NSE examples. Their guides on this site explain the score, the universe and the rebalance months.
Why does momentum turnover matter?
A momentum list changes names at each rebalance, so brokerage, STT and short term capital gains tax add up. The rebalance cost calculator puts a rupee figure on the trading charges.
Is this page investment advice?
No. It is a reading list of education pages. Model figures on the linked strategy pages are back tested and dated, not client returns.
