Where it is
ScreenPortfolioBasic
Top up in the portfolio action bar (Dashboard, then Open). Basic and Advanced.
What it means
Top up takes a one time amount and buys the current holdings in proportion, so the portfolio keeps its mix. The sheet shows the minimum to add so every stock gets its share; a smaller amount can leave some stocks with no share. A Live top up asks for your consent before any order.
The formula
Each holding gets the amount times its weight. The minimum is enough to buy one share of the costliest stock for every stock in a sleeve, scaled by the sleeve's weight, plus 2 percent, rounded up to Rs 1,000.
Each holding gets amount x its weight
Minimum to add = per sleeve, stocks x highest price / sleeve weight; the largest of these, plus 2%, rounded up to Rs 1,000Worked example
Example only
- 20 stocks, highest price Rs 3,000, sleeve weight 80%
- 20 x 3,000 = 60,000; 60,000 / 0.8 = 75,000
- Plus 2%: 76,500, rounded up to Rs 77,000
How to read it
- The Use button fills in the minimum.
- Proportional means the mix stays as it is: nothing is sold.
- The new money shows in Invested and on the Ledger as Money added.
Watch out
- A Live top up places real orders at your broker after your consent.
- Below the minimum, some stocks may get no share.
- A top up buys the current holdings; it does not rebalance them.
