ScreenMarketplace, invest sheet and PortfolioBasic
The Marketplace card ("Broker cash covers the minimum." or "Broker cash is short by Rs X for the minimum."; an "Add Rs X" chip on a phone), "Broker cash available" on the invest sheet, and "Broker funds available" on the Resend sheet.

What it means
Your money stays at your broker, so every buy needs cash (or margin) there. The invest sheet compares your amount with the broker cash: "This needs Rs X but your broker shows Rs Y available. Some orders may be rejected for insufficient funds. You can still proceed." It does not block you. When a Live task starts, the server checks again; if the broker has less than the orders need, the task stops before any order with "Insufficient margin" and reads Needs attention. A buy the broker refuses for funds reads Rejected. In a rebalance the buys wait about 45 seconds after the sells so the sale money can settle.
The formula
Short by = the minimum (or your amount) minus the broker cash. The warning is a guide; the broker decides.
Marketplace: short by = minimum - broker cash (hidden when the broker cash reads 0)
Invest sheet: warning when amount > broker cash; you can still proceed
Live task start: need > have: stops with Insufficient margin
Rejected for funds: add cash at the broker, then Resend or ResumeWorked example
Example only
- Minimum Rs 2,40,000; broker cash Rs 2,00,000
- The card reads: short by Rs 40,000 for the minimum
- Invest Rs 2,40,000 anyway: some buys may be rejected for funds
How to read it
- A cash figure reads at the time it was fetched; tap Refresh on the Dashboard for a new one.
- Margin funded (MTF) portfolios on 5paisa show a margin line on the rebalance sheet.
- The weekly email says failed rebalances often need funds or margin at your broker before a retry.
Watch out
- Charges come out of the same cash; keep a little more than the order value.
- The "Minimum to add" on the Top up sheet is a guide; it is not enforced.
- Practice has no cash limit, so it never fails for funds.
